112 adverse drug reactions reported in ICT

            ISLAMABAD, Oct 09 (DNA):The Islamabad Pharmacovigilance Centre has received 112 reports of suspected adverse drug reactions (ADRs) during September 2026, highlighting ongoing efforts to strengthen medicine safety and protect patients.

According to the Pharmacovigilance Cell of the Health Department, Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) reported the highest number of ADRs at 33, followed by Rawal General & Dental Hospital with 18, KRL Hospital G-9 with 14 and Federal Government Polyclinic with 12.

Other reports were received from Ali Medical Centre (9), NIRM (3), Quaid-e-Azam International Hospital (3), Kulsum International Hospital (2) and IMCT-Riphah Healthcare Services/Max Health Pharmacies (2), along with several other healthcare facilities.

The centre said timely reporting of suspected ADRs was essential for early detection of medicine-related risks, strengthening safety surveillance and preventing avoidable harm to patients.

The Pharmacovigilance Cell appreciated healthcare institutions and professionals contributing to the ADR reporting system and urged continued reporting to further strengthen pharmacovigilance and patient safety.
