Urges CJP to take notice ‘enforced disappearance’ cases, ensure rule of law
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan strongly condemned the detention of 21 PTI’s women leaders and workers for the last four months in Kot Lakhpat, Lahore Jail.
PTI Secretary General said that these women were kept in incarceration just to teach them a lesson for their association with the PTI and its chairman Imran Khan.
He said: “They are being constantly denied bail on one excuse or another just to teach them a ‘lesson’. This falls within the category of Human Rights Abuse.”
“I have worked with Aliya Hamza Malik former MNA when she was an MNA and Parliamentary Secretary for Commerce, who was one of our star performers, as she always well-prepared, articulate, and precise whilst answering questions on the floor of the National Assembly or appearing in the media,” he said.
Omar said: “Dr. Yasmin Rashid former Minister Health Punjab and PTI President Central Punjab. One word describes her perfectly – Iron Lady and grass roots worker.”
He stated that she has tremendous empathy for the people and does not mince her words whilst speaking her mind. Temendous sense of humour.
“Rubina Jameel former MNA, as I worked with her when Rubina Jameel was an MNA. She is very articulate and spoke with conviction on the floor of the National Assembly and on the media,” he remarked.
Omar went on to say that Rubina always spoke for Pakistan, as she is a patriotic to the core and her husband served in Pakistan Army with distinction.
“Khadija Shah, an entrepreneur, who is a granddaughter of General Asif Nawaz, former COAS. I met her when she was a young girl sitting with her grandfather General Asif Nawaz (Late) serving as Commandant PMA at the time,” he added.
“She was the favourite of her grandparents,” Omar maintained.
“I have worked with Dr Salman Shah, father of Khadija Shah when he Adviser on Finance and Revenue, who is a thorough gentleman and a brilliant professional,” PTI SG remarked.
Omar continued that General Asif Nawaz and my father went to school together before partition and they joined the Army and served in the same unit. “A family that loves Pakistan and has served Pakistan,” he added.
Meanwhile, Omar Ayub strongly criticized the abduction of Gazain Abbassi ex-MPA Punjab from Karachi by unknown people on September 10 and is still missing since the last 10 days.
“Gazain Abbassi’s only crime is that he and his family are standing steadfastly with Imran Khan,” he added.
“I condemn Gazain Abbassi’s enforced disappearance in the strongest words possible. I demand the Chief Justice Qazi Faez Esa to take notice of all the ‘Enforced Disappearance’ cases and ensure that the Rule of Law is enforced in Pakistan,” he demanded.
“We demand the return of all our activists who are untraceable and are being categorized as ‘Enforced Disappeared’,” he appealed.
