ISLAMABAD, OCT 31 (DNA) — Pakistan and Finland have agreed to enhance cooperation in the field of education. An understanding to this effect came during a meeting between Ambassador of Finland to Pakistan Hannu Ripatti with Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Madad Ali Sindhi in Islamabad on Tuesday.
During the meeting, it was decided to establish a center of excellence at National Skills University focusing on Hotel and Restaurant Industry, construction sector, IT, Teachers Training and Engineering Studies. It was also decided to set up a center at the Pakistan Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management in collaboration with the Turku Municipality of Finland.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said exchange of expertise regarding Vocational and Technical Training between the two countries will help upgrade existing institutions in Pakistan. Appreciating the literacy rate and high quality of education in Finland, Madad Ali Sindhi highlighted the challenge of Out of School Children in Pakistan.
The Ambassador shared the policies adopted by Finland to overcome these problems. The Ambassador informed the minister about the ongoing collaboration between the government of Finland and Pakistan.
He told the minister that two Finland universities are already providing technical and human expertise at NUTECH and NUST where nearly 500 people are under training at present. — DNA
