Minister Muttaqi, Turkish counterpart talk on strengthening bilateral relations

KABUL: The Acting Foreign Minister Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, during his stay in Istanbul, in a meeting with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan, emphasized the strengthening of the relations between the two countries, the ministry said in a statement Tuesday.

Both sides discussed bilateral relations and enhancement of diplomatic ties, establishment of new commercial corridors and all-round regional issues. Also, the two sides emphasized the importance of holding such meetings and fostering cooperation with each other and expressed hope for the continuation of such meetings, the statement said.

Assuring that Turkiye will not support any armed opposition in Afghanistan, Hakan Fidan emphasized that Afghanistan and Turkiye are two brother nations and his country will continue its friendship and relationship with Afghanistan, according to the statement. Mawlavi Muttaqi called the acceptance of the new Afghan diplomats as a positive step towards bolstering the relationship between the two friend and brother nations and appreciated the Turkish humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan, the statement added.
