4th APSUP Rectors’ Conference Concludes at COMSTECH

Islamabad, December 2: 4th Rectors Conference has successfully concluded at COMSTECH. The conference was organized by the Association of Private Sector Universities of Pakistan (APSUP) in collaboration with Superior University, COMSTECH, HEC, PHEC, Preston University, FAST University, IBADAT University, Abasyn University, University of Sialkot, My University and IUCPSS.

Prof. Dr. Sumaira Rehman, Rector Superior University, highlighted the background and objectives of the Conference. She also highlighted the theme of the conference. Prof. Dr. Abdul Basit, President APSUP also spoke at the occasion.

Chairman, Higher Education. Commission (HEC) Pakistan, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad emphasized the need of networking of Pakistani universities with the universities around the world to find the opportunity. He stressed the leadership of Pakistani universities and said, shun the traditional mindset, network with the world and grab the opportunity. He was addressing the 3-day 4th Rectors’ Conference at COMSTECH Auditorium. He said that 70% of resources of the world are in OIC but we could not bet benefit due to the lack of networking. He emphasized the need of taking action by the universities, and said just signing memorandum of understandings are not enough.

Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General COMSTECH emphasized the need of joint programs formulation and initiation with the universities in OIC member states to share the knowledge, expertise and the talent. He highlighted the role of COMSTECH for bringing the research institutions and universities of OIC states closer to cooperate. Prof. Choudhary appreciated the Association of Private Sector Universities of Pakistan (APSUP) for it role for networking between the institutions.

The Ambassador of Kazakhstan, Mr. Yerzhan Kistafin addressed the conference and said that his country’s main focus is on education. He emphasized the need of enhancement in the level of literacy and awareness about the world and the security situation. He informed that his country is open to bilateral and regional cooperation. He emphasized the need of the cooperation between the universities of Kazakhstan with the universities in OIC states. He appreciated COMSTECH activities and the visionary leadership of Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, the Coordinator General COMSTECH.

The Vice-Chancellors and leadership of about 150 universities participated in this 3-day Rector’s Conference. Delegation from seven OIC countries under the facilitation of COMSTECH also participated. COMSTECH is contributing partner in organization of this conference.
