ISLAMABAD, DEC 13: /DNA/ – A high-level delegation of the Commonwealth Secretariat called on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan to discuss the prevailing political situation in the country and issues of mutual and bilateral interests.
The delegation was led by Advisor and Head at the Commonwealth Secretariat Asia Dr. Dinusha Panditaratne.
PTI parliamentary leader in Senate, Barrister Ali Zafar and Central Information Secretary Raoof Hasan participated in the meeting.
Advisor and Head offices Section Professor Michelle Scobie, Legal officers Latoya McDowald-Hurley and Program Officer Andrew Baines were also present on the occasion.
During the meeting, they held a detailed discussion on the country’s overall political and economic situation, bilateral issues and matters of mutual and bilateral interests.
They also shed light on the current environment for the general elections in Pakistan, the opportunities for political parties to participate in the elections and the overall impact of the elections on the country’s development and prosperity.
The participants of the meeting also discussed in detail various aspects of the utility and need of the government enjoyed public mandate that was elected as a result of free, fair and transparent elections.
PTI Chairman admitted the role and effectiveness of the Commonwealth Secretariat regarding the survival and continuity of democracy in the country, free, fair, transparent elections and respect and protection of basic human rights in the country.
