LHC refuses to pass order for immediate release of Afzal Marwat

LAHORE, DEC 15 (DNA) — The Lahore High Court has rejected the request to pass an order for the immediate release of PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat. LHC Justice Shahram Sarwar Chaudhry heard a petition challenging flamboyant PTI lawyer Sher Afzal Marwat’s detention. The judge heard the petition at his chamber on Friday.

The court issued notices to the respondents for December 18. The petition made Government of Punjab, Deputy Commissioner and others respondents in the case. The court has been prayed to declare the detention order of Marwat null and void. Sardar Latif Khosa Advocate appeared in the court on behalf of the petitioner.

The petition states that Marwat’s arrest is politically motivated. He is not involved in any illegal activities. The petitioner requested the court to declare the PTI leader’s detention order null and void. — DNA
