ISLAMABAD, FEB 9: Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) Senior Vice President and PML-N Chief Organizer Maryam Nawaz Sharif finally broke the silence on the results of Elections 2024 and said that PMLN emerged as the single largest party in centre.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Maryam Nawaz Sharif said: “As opposed to the false perception deliberately built by a section of media last night, PMLN, Alhamdulillah emerging as the single largest party in the centre and in Punjab.”
Maryam Nawaz said: “Some results awaited. MNS will head to PMLN HQ for the victory speech as soon as the final results are received. Insha’Allah. Stay tuned.”
The post came after the criticism on the social media platforms that questioned PMLN’s silence when the results started pouring in showing the results in favour of independents on national assembly seats contrary to the perception that PMLN will win.
Former federal finance minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader, Ishaq Dar, disclosed that independent candidates have reached out to the party. He emphasized that the PML-N stands as the predominant party in the National Assembly seats from Punjab.
During media interactions, he affirmed PML-N’s lead in the election results, emphasizing their continuous advantage as the results unfolded. Regarding delays in result announcements, the PML-N leader acknowledged the shutdown of mobile phone networks the previous day, refraining from complaints.
Supporters of jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan had the edge on Friday in Pakistan’s election results from over 100 seats, local media said, after vote counts were hit by unusual delays that the government ascribed to a suspension of mobile phone services.
Independents, who mostly owe allegiance to Khan, had won 47 of 106 seats for which it had results. A total of 265 seats were contested in Thursday’s election.
