ATTOCK: Former Federal Minister of State for Overseas Sardar Saleem Haider Khan has said Commissioner Rawalpindi has made alarming revelations regarding rigging in general elections. The government should immediately investigate the statement of the commissioner.
He said facts must be made public after conducting a probe into the allegations. The People’s Party has reservations regarding the Feb 8 general elections.
Former Minister said that The country is currently going through the most critical period. The future of the country is related to democracy. For the stability of democracy and democratic institutions, all institutions should play their role according to the constitution and law within their limits. The public mandate was insulted in the election. Institutions openly interfered in compiling the election results he added.
He said that Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faiz Isa should immediately take notice of allegations made by Commissioner Rawalpindi Liaquat Ali Chatta regarding the alleged irregularities in the election. An investigation should be started immediately regarding rigging in the elections.
