Earlier, the Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia had called on all Muslims across the Kingdom to sight the Shawwal crescent on the evening of Monday, Ramadan 29, 1445 Hijri, corresponding to April 08, 2024.

In an announcement today, the Supreme Court had called on whoever sights the crescent moon with naked eyes or through binoculars to report to the nearest court and register their testimony.

Eid ul Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, the month of fasting in the Islamic calendar. It’s a time for joyous gatherings and breaking the fast with family and friends.

In the UAE, the Emirates Astronomical Society also forecasts that Eid ul Fitr will begin on April 10.

Meanwhile, in Pakistan, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet in Islamabad on Tuesday, April 9, for the sighting of Shawwal crescent moon. The chairman of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad will preside over the meeting.

Members from various institutions, including the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Pakistan Meteorological Department, and The Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission will also participate in the meeting.
