LAHORE, MAY 11 /DNA/ – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has greenlit a project aimed at providing spectacles and hearing aids to 700,000 students across the province.

Under this initiative, students in both public and private schools throughout the province will undergo screening to assess their eyesight and hearing abilities. Those identified as visually or hearing impaired will receive the necessary support in the form of spectacles or hearing aids, ensuring they have equal access to education and learning opportunities.

The project has garnered significant financial backing from the renowned organization AT Scale, which has pledged a substantial sum of Rs500 million to support its implementation.

A delegation from AT Scale recently held a meeting with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in Lahore to discuss various aspects of the project, as well as other pertinent issues in the education sector. The discussions included considerations for improving internet services in schools, meeting the nutritional requirements of schoolchildren, and enhancing the capacity of school teachers.

During the meeting, the CM announced plans to establish the first government school for autistic children in Punjab. Expressing her vision for transformative change, Maryam stressed the importance of adopting innovative approaches to address contemporary challenges.

“Positive change is possible only with new thinking in the new era,” Maryam stressed, stressing that every child has the right to receive education according to global benchmarks.=DNA
