Karachi, May 28, 2024 – The Higher Education Commission, Pakistan (HEC) and the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) are joining forces to organize Olympic Day celebrations across Pakistan’s Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). This initiative aligns with the visionary policies of Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman HEC, to provide exceptional educational and research opportunities to the youth and encourage their participation in extracurricular activities.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, HEC’s Director Sports and Co-curricular Activities Division, Mr. Javed Ali Memon issued a circular to all HEIs across the country, urging them to actively participate in the Olympic Day celebrations scheduled for June 20-23.
The circular states that the Pakistan Olympic Association is planning a comprehensive program of sports and athlete-related activities across the country in connection with Olympic Day celebrations. “These activities include sports events, tree plantation drives, cultural performances, photo exhibitions, and educational seminars on the benefits of sports”, the circular added.
Mr. Memon emphasized that these celebrations will not only promote the Olympic Movement across Pakistan’s universities but also inspire students to adopt healthy lifestyles, inculcate the values of sportsmanship and camaraderie, and enhance their skills through both curricular and extracurricular activities.
The circular highlights the crucial role of students in shaping Pakistan’s sporting future and encourages universities to fully engage them in the Olympic Day festivities. It further underscores HEC’s unwavering support for these endeavors, emphasizing their potential to foster the Olympic Movement, promote healthy lifestyles, encourage sports participation, cultivate a spirit of brotherhood, and showcase the talent and passion of Pakistan’s youth.
