JEDDAH, AUG 14 /DNA/ – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemned the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by the extremist minister of the Israeli occupation government, Itamar Ben Gavir, and hundreds of extremist settlers,  the desecration of its courtyards and the prevention of worshipers from accessing it, considering this a provocation to the feelings of Muslims throughout the world, and a flagrant violation of international law and relevant UN resolutions.

The OIC also warned against the danger of the continued  Israeli occupation policies aimed at altering the Arab and Islamic identity of the occupied city of Al-Quds, stressing that Israel, the occupying power, has no sovereignty over the occupied city of Al-Quds and its holy places, and that the blessed Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif in its entirety is a place of worship for Muslims exclusively.

Furthermore, the OIC called on the international community, especially the UN Security Council, to shoulder its responsibilities to put an end to these serious and repeated violations of the sanctity of holy places and freedom of worship. The OIC also underlined the need for complete and immediate cessation of the Israeli aggression and international protection for the Palestinian people.
