LAHORE,AUG 21 (DNA): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz launched “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” scheme on Wednesday to provide affordable housing.

During her speech, Maryam Nawaz expressed pride in the successful creation of the scheme, emphasizing the government’s commitment to quickly building homes for those in need. “We have succeeded in creating this scheme, and we will quickly build houses and provide them to the people,” she stated.

Punjab chief minster said that both she and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif had been eagerly awaiting its implementation as during his era Nawaz Sharif gave land to farmers, and now, we are continuing that legacy.

Maryam Nawaz stressed the profound impact of homeownership, saying, “They say that if you give someone a home and a roof, there is no greater service.” To support this, she announced that the government would provide a 15 lakh interest-free loan for 5 marla land in urban areas and 10 marla land in rural areas. “No payments will be required for the first three months,” she added.

Punjab CM also revealed details about the affordability of the scheme, noting that the monthly installment would be 14,000 rupees. “I understand how low-income people live, and this scheme is designed to ease their financial burden,” she said.

In addition to the housing initiative, Maryam Nawaz announced a major relief package in electricity bills, amounting to 45 to 50 billion rupees.

She also unveiled plans for the largest solar program in Pakistan’s history, set to launch next year, which she hopes will eliminate the need for electricity bills in the future. “Maryam Nawaz is bringing the biggest solar program in history from next year so that you don’t have to pay the bill next year,” she declared.

The “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” scheme represents a cornerstone of Maryam Nawaz’s efforts to provide relief and improve living conditions for the people of Punjab.
