Kazakhstan launches EU-backed SDG localization project

ASTANA, SEP 30: A project titled “GLocal Promotion of SDG Localization in Kazakhstan” has been launched in Karkaralinsk city (Karaganda region), aimed at improving the quality of life and developing civil society, Trend reports via the Ministry of Economy.

According to the ministry, the project is being implemented with financial support from the European Union and aims to promote effective governance in two pilot areas.

The project is expected to introduce a territorial approach to local development (TALD) for the localization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The ministry’s official Nurghul Zhannazarova noted that the SDGs aim to build an inclusive society and improve the quality of life through the adoption of the best international standards. She emphasized the importance of local communities’ participation in achieving these goals. The project includes active participation from civil society and local authorities in the development and implementation of local development plans, as well as in monitoring the achievement of the SDGs based on public opinion.
