Pakistan’s Maliha Ali clinches bronze medal at 6th Asian Open Taekwondo Championship

Indonesia, OCT 16 (DNA) : Maliha Ali – representing Pakistan – secured a bronze medal in the -73 kg category at the 6th Asian Open Kyorugi Taekwondo Championship held in Tangerang, Indonesia, from October 15 to 18, 2024.

Maliha, a student at Lahore Garrison University, showcased her hard work and dedication throughout the competition, earning accolades for her impressive performance.

The championship saw fierce competition, with more than 275 athletes from various Asian nations, including India, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, the Philippines, Malaysia, Nepal, and the host country, Indonesia, participating in the event.

The gold medal in the -73 kg category was claimed by South Korea’s Shin Jeong Jin, while Indonesia’s Maheshwari Nadira took home the silver medal. Maliha’s success not only underscores her personal commitment but also serves as an inspiration for her teammates and aspiring taekwondo athletes across Pakistan.

Before the championship, a 16-member taekwondo squad from Pakistan arrived in Indonesia, eager to make their mark in this prestigious tournament.

The event, hosted at the Indore Stadium Sports Center, has provided a platform for athletes to compete at a high level and foster camaraderie among the nations.
