DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Nov 16 (APP):Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Saturday reiterated to continue his struggle for ensuring peace and prosperity in the province with bringing southern districts including Dera Ismail Khan on a par with developed areas of the country.

He expressed these views while addressing a ceremony organized by the Institute of Medical Allied and Nursing Sciences (IMANS) here.
Expressing concern over the province’s security situation, Faisal Karim Kundi said, “The Governor, Chief Minister, and IG Police belong to this region, and we have to work collectively for the betterment of Dera Ismail Khan and the province as a whole.”
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister has focused processions and sit-inns by leaving the province at the mercy of militants, he added.
The governor emphasized that his focus was on changing the fate of the people of the province, as the incumbent provincial government had badly failed to deliver on promises.
He also criticized Punjab for halting the supply of wheat, flour, and poultry to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa which was contributing to the state in the form of gas, oil, and electricity, it did not receive its fair share of resources.
The governor expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Federal Minister for WAPDA, and especially the Chairman of WAPDA, for allocating funds for the Lift Canal project, which will be inaugurated soon.
He said that the mega project would bring a green revolution in the area. It would boost the agriculture sector, enabling the region to meet the country’s food requirements.
He also mentioned that the work on a four-lane road project from Dera Ismail Khan to Dera Ghazi Khan and onward to Kashmor was underway. The portion of this project lying in Sindh province has already been completed.
He said that he was also making efforts to establish the campus of Air University in DI Khan, adding, he has talked with the authorities concerned of Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the Pakistan Airforce.
He also highlighted several upcoming development projects, including the restoration of Dera Ismail Khan Airport.
He added these projects would be inaugurated soon, making the region a hub of economic activities.
Moreover, he added that the work on laying down the gas pipeline in Korai and Kotla Seydan areas was also underway.
He said that efforts were underway to build the Chakdara-Dir Road under the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) with the support of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and this project will be inaugurated soon.
Highlighting the increasing demand for skilled manpower in this field from various countries, the governor stressed the need to focus on providing training that meets international standards.
He said that through the Red Crescent Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, international donors are being brought to the province, and efforts will be made to resolve issues in the merged districts.
The province will soon see developmental projects under the Red Crescent’s supervision, he added.
Chairman of the Red Crescent Society, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Habib Malik Orakzai and founder of IMANS, renowned lawyer Malik Tahir Waseem Diyal also spoke on the occasion.
