Pakistan backs GCC’s call for immediate ceasefire in Gaza

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan extended full support to the Gulf Cooperation Council’s (GCC) demand for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, aligning with efforts to protect innocent civilians and ensure the delivery of essential humanitarian aid.

Reaffirming its steadfast backing for the Palestinian cause, Pakistan emphasised the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, as a key resolution for peace in the region.

The GCC’s condemnation of war crimes in Gaza mirrored Pakistan’s commitment to upholding international laws and safeguarding Palestinian rights. Pakistan viewed the GCC’s proactive role in promoting peace in Gaza and Lebanon as a critical step towards regional stability.

By highlighting the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, the GCC set a moral precedent for the international community to follow to prevent further escalation. Pakistan appreciated the GCC’s focus on protecting women and children in Gaza, underlining the urgency of collective international action.

Pakistan also joined global appeals to accelerate efforts for lasting peace in the Middle East, including Palestine’s full membership in the United Nations.
