Interior Minister meets Jamaat-e-Islami leaders to discuss IPPs and electricity issues

Lahore: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Hafiz Naeemur Rahman in Mansurah and informed about the government’s initiatives and progress on the IPPs issue. Secretary General Amir-ul-Azeem, Deputy Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Dr. Osama Razi were also present on the occasion. The Interior Minister said that the government is sticking to the promises made during the Rawalpindi Agreement with Jamaat-e-Islami. People will soon get good news regarding IPPs contracts. Amir Jamaat said that Jamaat-e-Islami will continue its struggle until people get relief regarding electricity prices. The Home Minister said that the government is trying to finalize the negotiations with the IPPs owners very quickly. Amir Jamaat said that the work done so far in this regard should be brought before the people. Electricity bills should be reduced in basic tariff. The Home Minister assured that people will get a big relief in electricity bills. Amir Jamaat also apprised the Home Minister about the recent actions and excesses of K Electric. The Home Minister said that the government will pay attention to it. In the meeting, there was a discussion about law and order in the country and especially in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Karam district. The Interior Minister informed the Amir Jamaat about the government’s initiatives. Amir Jamaat mentioned the APC organized by the government on the Palestine issue on the proposal of Jamaat-e-Islami to the Interior Minister and said that the government has not yet made any progress on the decisions announced in the APC. Amir Jamaat said that Jamaat-e-Islami is playing its full role to highlight this issue at the government level as well as at the public level and in this regard, it will hold a big rally in Islamabad on December 29 for solidarity with the people of Palestine. The Interior Minister said that the issue of Palestine is the issue of the entire Ummah and we will fully cooperate on this issue.
