All set for Lahore’s historic Horse and Cattle Show in Feb

LAHORE, JAN 20: Punjab Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) will organize the Horse and Cattle Show 2025 in February. The colorful opening ceremony of the event will take place on 9th February at the Fortress Stadium, while the closing ceremony will be held on February 23 at Greater Iqbal Park.

The event will feature 16 exciting activities, including the opening ceremony, float parade, flower exhibition, tent pegging & mounted archery, Kabaddi match, Rustam-e-Punjab wrestling contest, music & food festival, children’s festival, Sufi festival, adventure sports event, vintage car show, cyclothon, Punjab Industries & Artisans Expo, Horse and Cattle Show, closing ceremony, and public entertainment events.

These activities will take place at various venues across the city, including Fortress Stadium, Mall Road, Bella Ward Gulberg, Jailani Park, Lahore Polo Club, Open Air Theater Bagh-e-Jinnah, Hazoori Bagh, Lahore Fort, Expo Center, Minar-e-Pakistan, and Abdul Razzaq Stadium in Shahdara.According to DG PHA Lahore, Muhammad Tahir Watto, the Horse and Cattle Show 2025 will be historic and will offer citizens exceptional opportunities for entertainment and leisure.

He further emphasized that PHA is working with comprehensive planning to ensure the success of this grand event, in line with the vision of the Punjab government.

National Horse and Cattle Show: A Historic Tradition in Pakistan
The National Horse and Cattle Show, a hallmark of Pakistan’s agricultural and cultural heritage, traces its origins to the Ayub Khan era. The concept of a national-level event was first envisioned during his government, leading to the inaugural show in 1964 at Lahore’s Fortress Stadium under the direction of Gen Azam Khan, assisted by Dr. SM Sarwar from the animal husbandry department.

Over the decades, this prestigious event has showcased the best of Pakistan’s livestock, culture, and traditions. While local and provincial shows are regularly held in areas like Sibi (Balochistan), Jacobabad (Sindh), and various parts of Punjab, the National Horse and Cattle Show remains a unique platform celebrating excellence in animal husbandry.
