State-of-the-Art Infrastructure Enhances Saddar Rawalpindi for Residents, Visitors

ISLAMABAD, FEB 26 /DNA/ – Lt Gen (R) Muhammad Ali, HI(M), Secretary Defence, inaugurated the Underground Electrification & Uplifting of Saddar (Including Pedestrian Bank Road) Rawalpindi, in the presence of high-ranking officials and dignitaries. The ceremony was attended by Lt Gen Shahid Imtiaz, HI(M), Commander X Corps, Major General Irfan Ahmed Malik, HI(M), DG ML&C, Mr. Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Chief Secretary of Punjab, and other notable figures. The project, which was completed in a record time of one year at a cost of Rs. 1.25 billion, introduces numerous upgrades to the Saddar area. These include underground electrification, renovation of roads, standardization of shop boards, improved pedestrian pathways, modern street lighting, the addition of benches, executive washrooms, and shuttle services. This initiative is expected to enhance the area’s infrastructure, support economic growth, and improve the quality of life for both residents and visitors.

The Chief Secretary of Punjab, Zahid Akhtar Zaman, commended the speed and quality of the work, acknowledging the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board’s efforts in completing the project efficiently and within the scheduled timeframe. He further praised the impact of such initiatives on urban development, stating that similar projects will be launched in other cantonments and cities across Punjab to replicate the success witnessed in Saddar, Rawalpindi. Lt Gen (R) Muhammad Ali, HI(M) also expressed his appreciation for the Military Lands & Cantonments Department for undertaking such state-of-the-art project within the heart of Rawalpindi Cantonment. All participants praised Rawalpindi Cantonment Board’s commitment to excellence and emphasized the significance of such development projects in raising the living standards of communities. They underscored the importance of collaborative efforts between the government, local authorities, and residents in ensuring the success of urban development initiatives.

The successful execution of this transformative project was made possible by the dedicated efforts of several key individuals from the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board. Brig Ahmed Nawaz, Station Commander Rawalpindi, along with Syed Ali Irfan Rizvi CEO RCB, Haider Shujah Addl CEO, Naveed Nawaz Naul Addl CEO, Arshad Khan Addl CEO, and Nasir Kamal Dy CEO, played pivotal roles in overseeing and facilitating the project on the ground. Their meticulous planning, coordination, and leadership ensured that the project was completed efficiently and to the highest standards.
