ISLAMABAD, MAR 5 (DNA) – President Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries Atif Ikram Sheikh has said that legitimate rights should be given to the victims of Dia Mur Bhasha Dams so that the month-long protest can end peacefully. The MoU signed by the victims with the federal and provincial governments should be implemented. So far some people have received compensation in this regard and the demands of the remaining people should also be accepted. We will also submit our proposal at the federation level in our budget proposals in the upcoming budget and we will also discuss the issues and proposals related to Bhasha Dam and Bunji Dam. He expressed these views while speaking at an important meeting held at FPCCI
Former Vice President FPCCI and FPCCI Convener (ICT & GB) on CPEC Special Economic Zone Johar Ali Rakhi (T.I) said that the agreement reached between the victims and the government people is now going to be completed with the construction of the dam which will add 4500 megawatts of electricity to the system, but the victims have not yet been compensated, which is why they are protesting. Apart from this, the surveys of another Bunji Dam which can generate 7100 megawatts of electricity are in the final stages and this dam comes on the CPEC route where millions of dollars have been allocated for the energy sector. We demand that if the government pays attention to these two dams, the ongoing energy crisis in the country can end.
