ISLAMABAD, MAR 13 (DNA): At the 1320 MW Sahiwal Power Plant in Pakistan, the management team has introduced measures to accommodate Muslim staff during Ramadan.
These include adjusted work hours and special meal arrangements.
“It is a blessed Ramadan for me,” said Mr. Umair, an engineer at the plant. “Working hours have been relaxed, and meal arrangements have been in place since the start of the Holy Month.”
To support employees during fasting, the plant provides buffet-style meals for sehri (the pre-dawn meal) and iftar (the meal to break the fast).
The buffet includes traditional Pakistani dishes such as haleem, biryani, and kebabs, alongside Chinese options like dumplings and noodles.
The management has also shortened working hours for employees commuting from outside Sahiwal, enabling them to return home for iftar with their families.
“The long hours of fasting can be exhausting, and the additional stress of commuting can make it more challenging for employees to fully enjoy their time with loved ones,” another technician told Gwadar Pro.
The Sahiwal Power Plant, operated by Huaneng Shandong Ruyi (Pakistan) Energy (Limited), is a flagship project under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
