ISLAMABAD, MAY 2 /DNA/ – To elevate the quality and international visibility of academic research in Pakistan, Higher Education Commission (HEC) successfully organised the 4th Editors Orientation Capacity-Building Workshop on Journal Recognition at Government College University, Faisalabad.
The workshop drew more than 90 participants, including journal editors, researchers, and faculty members from across South Punjab. Designed to enhance editorial practices and align local journals with global publishing standards, the event marked a significant step towards strengthening the academic publishing landscape in Pakistan.
Dean Faculty of Management, Virtual University of Pakistan, Dr. Ather Azim delivered the keynote address. With over three decades of experience in both academia and corporate sector, Dr. Azim has held leadership roles at several institutions and served in senior financial positions. His address offered participants practical insights into editorial management and institutional development.
The workshop featured interactive sessions focused on key areas such as: Directory of Open Access Journals (DOJE) & Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines, Peer review Mechanisms Editorial policies and procedures and best practices in academic publishing.
Addressing the closing ceremony, Vice Chancellor Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) Dr. Rauf e Azam emphasised the vital need for continuous professional development to boost the quality, credibility, and global reach of Pakistani research journals.
This workshop is part of HEC’s broader strategy to reinforce Pakistan’s research infrastructure and promote integration with the international academic community.=DNA
