Tight security measures in place as PSL 10 Qualifier kicks off in Lahore

LAHORE, May 21 (APP):The qualifier match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 between Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators was underway today (Wednesday) at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. As Lahore becomes the center stage for the upcoming qualifier, eliminator and final matches of PSL 10, stringent security arrangements have been put in place by the city’s police.

According to a spokesperson for Lahore Police, dedicated officers and personnel have been deployed to ensure the safety of players, officials and cricket fans. The Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore, Bilal Siddique Kamyana, said that both local and international players are being provided with foolproof security, emphasizing that creating a peaceful and secure environment for international cricket is a top priority for the department.

The CCPO has directed supervisory officers to maintain close coordination with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), district administration, and other security agencies. He stressed the importance of implementing the security standard operating procedures (SOPs) in their true spirit.
In addition to police deployment, special teams such as the Dolphin Squad and Police Response Unit (PRU) have been assigned to conduct effective patrolling around players’ residences, designated routes and the stadium’s surrounding areas. Monitoring is being continuously carried out from the Punjab Safe Cities Authority and other control rooms to ensure round-the-clock surveillance.

Bilal Siddique also emphasized the need for uninterrupted traffic flow and the proper execution of the parking plan. He instructed all officers at duty points to remain highly alert throughout the duration of the matches.
