ISLAMABAD, MAY 27: The Privatization Commission of Pakistan has extended the deadline for submitting expressions of interest (EOIs) for the privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) by two weeks.

The new submission deadline is now set for June 19, replacing the earlier cut-off date of June 3.

According to an official statement, the extension was granted to accommodate prospective investors, particularly in light of Eid-ul-Adha holidays and ongoing regional tensions between Pakistan and India, which may have caused logistical delays.

The commission clarified that while the EOI and Statement of Qualification (SOQ) can now be submitted by June 19, no changes have been made to other terms and conditions of the privatization process.

As part of the privatization effort, the government is offering between 50% and 100% of PIA’s shares to qualified investors. The government has expressed hope that privatization will lead to the revival and modernization of the national carrier, which has faced financial difficulties and operational setbacks in recent years.
