Brussels: KCEU Holds Protest Camp in Brussels, Demands Release of Shabbir Shah, Yasin Malik, Khurram Parvez, Ahsan Untoo and other Kashmiri Prisoners
Brussels — The Kashmir Council Europe (KCEU) organized a protest camp in front of the European Parliament in Brussels on Thursday, demanding an immediate end to India’s atrocities in occupied Kashmir and the release of Kashmiri political prisoners including freedom movement leading figure Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Yasin Malik, Khurram Parvez and Ahsan Untoo. A large number of Kashmiri leaders, political activists, civil society members, and citizens participated in the protest demonstration. Many Europeans passing by inquired about the protest and latest situation in occupied Kashmir.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, speakers highlighted the urgent need for a peaceful resolution to the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the United Nations resolutions and aspirations of people of Kashmir. They stated, “The only solution to the Kashmir conflict lies in granting the Kashmiri people their right to self-determination. India must stop its oppressive policies and engage in meaningful dialogue instead of using military force.”
The speakers urged the international community to increase pressure on India to halt human rights violations in Kashmir and release all political detainees. They also called upon the Pakistani government to raise the issue more effectively on global platforms.
The Chairman of the Kashmir Council Europe Ali Raza Syed, in his address, demanded the “immediate and unconditional release of Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Yasin Malik, Khurram Parvez, Ahsan Untoo and other Kashmiri prisoners who are being held on fabricated charges.”
According to him, this protest is part of the Kashmir Council EU’s ongoing movement to draw global attention to the plight of Kashmiris. The Council’s Chair vows to continue struggle for the rights of the Kashmiri people.
He stressed that the situation in Kashmir reflects grave human rights abuses and called upon the United Nations to intervene and hold India accountable. He also asked India to allow the international human rights organizations and global media to travel to occupied Kashmir.
The protesters held banners and placards with slogans such as “Free Kashmiri Prisoners,” “India, Withdraw Your Troops from Kashmir,” and “International Community Listen to Kashmiris.” Participants expressed solidarity with the oppressed people of Kashmir and reiterated their demand for peace and justice.
