ISLAMABAD, JUL 18: The Interior Ministry has removed two senior officials from their positions amid ongoing investigations in Afghan e-visa scandal.
Visa Section Deputy Secretary Shireen Hina Asghar has been transferred, while Shafqat Ali Chachar has been appointed as the new Deputy Secretary for the visa section. Joint Secretary FIA Section Adnan Arshad Ulik has also been dismissed, with Asim Ayub appointed in his place.
Sources say both officials were allegedly linked to the scandal that has prompted swift administrative action. The Interior Ministry has issued formal notifications for the new appointments.
So far, four suspects have been arrested in connection with the visa scandal. Additionally, a sub-inspector and a constable have been detained on bribery charges related to the case.
