PESHAWAR, Jul 18 (APP):The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted another spell of monsoon rains with wind and thundershowers in most parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from July 20 to July 25.

According to the Regional Met Office in Peshawar, a new monsoon weather system is expected to enter the province during the said period. The system is likely to be further intensified by an incoming westerly wave which may result in widespread rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds in multiple districts.

The areas likely to be affected include Haripur, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Chitral (Upper & Lower), Dir (Upper & Lower), Swat, Buner, Malakand, Battagram, Shangla, Kohistan (Upper & Lower), Kolai Pallas Kohistan, Torghar, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Charsadda, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Kohat, Hangu, Bannu, Karak, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, and North and South Waziristan (Upper & Lower).

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has warned that the rains may include scattered heavy to very heavy downpours in some areas along with lightning and strong winds which may pose risks of urban flooding, landslides in hilly terrain and disruption in daily routines.

Through a letter to all Deputy Commissioners the PDMA has advised the authorities across the province to remain alert and take precautionary measures during the forecast period. The public and tourists too have been advised to take precautionary measures.
