Islamabad airport to shut down for 8 eight days

ISLAMABAD, AUG 9: Flight operations at Islamabad International Airport will face temporary suspensions on select days in August due to Independence Day parade rehearsals, the Pakistan Airport Authority announced.

Flights to be halted for rehearsals
According to a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued by the authority, arrivals and departures will be suspended on August 11, 12, and 13 from 8pm to 10pm. Airlines have been directed not to schedule any flights during these hours.

The NOTAM also covers additional suspension days earlier in the month. Flight operations will be halted on August 6 to 9 and August 11 to 14 for varying durations to accommodate parade practice. In these eight days, a special daytime suspension will take place between 11am and 1pm.

Passengers advised to check schedules
Authorities have urged travellers to confirm their flight timings in advance to avoid inconvenience. Airlines are expected to adjust schedules and notify passengers of any changes.

The temporary suspensions are part of the security and logistical preparations for Pakistan’s 77th Independence Day celebrations, which will be held with full ceremonial display in the federal capital.
