The Capital Development Authority and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa and Chief Commissioner Islamabad has once again proven his leadership, commitment to public service and civic responsibility through exemplary performance during the ongoing monsoon season.

Under the able leadership of the Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa all departments of the CDA and ICT have worked tirelessly day and night and in close coordination to ensure that the residents of Islamabad experience minimum disruption despite unprecedented heavy rainfall in the history of Islamabad due to climate change.

From advance planning to on-ground execution, CDA and ICT collective approach this season has been comprehensive, proactive, and people-centric. The Water Management Wing, Sanitation Directorate, Environment Wing, and Enforcement Directorate, MPO, Road and Maintenance alongside other allied departmentsjoined hands to mitigate monsoon-related challenges and provide rapid relief to citizens.

The key achievements during the ongoing Monsoon Season are Swift Response to Rainwater Drainage: The CDA deployed specialized machinery and well-trained teams to clear stormwater drains (nullahs) and remove blockages, ensuring smooth flow of rainwater. Quick response units were stationed at key points across the city to address waterlogging within minutes of heavy showers. Secondly, Effective Flood Mitigation Measures

Anticipating high rainfall, the Authority carried out desilting and cleaning of nullahs well before the onset of the season. This preventive strategy greatly reduced the chances of urban flooding in low-lying areas, protecting lives, property, and public infrastructure. Thirdly, Round-the-Clock Emergency Helpline by 1122. A centralized helpline was made operational, enabling citizens to immediately report waterlogging, fallen trees, or other rain-related issues. Environmental Care and Tree Management

through Environment Wing played a pivotal role in ensuring fallen trees and branches, a common occurrence during storms, were removed quickly from roads and residential areas. At the same time, plantation drives continued to maintain Islamabad’s natural beauty and greenery.

Sanitation & Public Health Measures were made and

extra sanitation teams were deployed to prevent garbage accumulation that could block drains. Anti-dengue campaigns and fumigation drives were also undertaken to safeguard citizens from seasonal health hazards linked to stagnant water.
