Pak, Saudi FMs unite on Gaza, call for permanent ceasefire

JEDDAH, AUG 25 /DNA/ – – The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, held a significant bilateral meeting with His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, the Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, today on the sidelines of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers’ emergency session on Palestine.

The high-level discussion focused on the dire and worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza, with both leaders emphasizing the urgent need for international action.

A Unified Stance on Gaza

The ministers addressed the critical issues plaguing Gaza, agreeing on the necessity of:

  • An immediate and permanent ceasefire to end the ongoing violence.
  • Unhindered and sustained humanitarian access to deliver life-saving aid to civilians.
  • Addressing the severe risk of famine and the overall genocidal situation.
  • Plans for post-conflict reconstruction and a pathway to lasting peace for the Palestinian people.

Both leaders expressed deep concern over the immense human suffering and stressed the importance of a collective Islamic response through the OIC to address the crisis.

Strengthening Brotherly Bilateral Ties

Beyond the pressing situation in Gaza, the two foreign ministers took the opportunity to review the deep-rooted, brotherly relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. They discussed enhancing cooperation in diverse areas, reflecting the strategic partnership and longstanding friendship between the two nations.

Views were also exchanged on other key regional and international developments of mutual interest, underscoring the close alignment and ongoing consultation between both countries.
