Ahmed Wins High Jump Trials for Islamic Games

ISLAMABAD, AUG 25 (DNA) —   Pakistan Army’s high jumper Ahmed Faraz clinched victory in the high jump trials held to select athletes for the upcoming Islamic Solidarity Games, scheduled to take place later this year in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The trials, organized by the Athletics Federation of Pakistan under the direction of the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), were staged at Jinnah Stadium, Islamabad. The selection committee—comprising Asghar Gul, Khan Bahadur, and representatives from PSB, Army, and WAPDA—declared Ahmed Faraz the winner after he cleared an impressive height of 2.10 meters.

In a surprising twist, Shehroz Khan—who had earlier pushed for the trials to be held—did not participate. His coach, Qazi Tanveer, announced his withdrawal from the competition. Faraz is no stranger to success. At the 52nd National Athletics Championship, he captured gold for Army with a 2.02-meter jump, and now he will represent Pakistan at the Islamic Solidarity Games.    â€” DNA
