KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has proposed that the provincial government and Pakistan Railways work together to revive the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR), stressing that project is an urgent need and has already faced excessive delays.
During a meeting with Federal Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi, Shah suggested outsourcing operations to improve service delivery.
He emphasized that upgrading the Karachi-to-Rohri rail line and running trains up and down the route would provide significant relief to commuters.
Railways Minister Abbasi announced that a new passenger train service from Karachi to Sukkur will be launched with an investment of Rs 6 billion. He further said that all rail lines across Karachi will be replaced with new tracks and assured that the Karachi-to-Rohri train would offer modern facilities, including air conditioning.
The meeting also decided to remove encroachments along railway lines to facilitate the projects.
