ISLAMABAD, SEPT 23 /DNA/ – ICCI President Sardar Tahir Mehmood has vowed to make the Chamber the true voice of the voiceless and the shield of the business community by asserting that every policy relating to business community must be framed by onboarding the real stakeholders.
He added that the business community has always delivered in difficult times and helped the nation overcome economic crises, therefore, its voice must be heard at every policy forum.
He expressed these views while addressing a grand felicitation ceremony at the S.M. Munir Auditorium held in his honor along with the newly elected Senior Vice President, Tahir Ayub, and Vice President, Mohammad Irfan Chaudhry, on their unopposed election. The event was attended by Patron-in-Chief of Azerbaijan-Pakistan Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Secretary General United Business Group, Zafar Bakhtawari, ICCI Executive and Council Members, leading businessmen, and office bearers of various traders’ associations of Islamabad.
Sardar Tahir Mehmood while highlighting ICCI’s vision, said the Chamber does not merely represent its 15,000 members but being the federal Chamber also stands for the interests of 260 million people of Pakistan, he demanded the inclusion of ICCI’s President in the CDA Board to ensure representation of the business community. He further announced that a detailed calendar of activities and initiatives will be unveiled in a press conference next month to present ICCI’s proactive agenda.
Patron-in-Chief Azerbaijan-Pakistan Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, congratulated the new ICCI leadership and expressed confidence that the team will serve the business community in a manner that makes its tenure exemplary. He assured full support of the business community for ICCI’s efforts to obtain a business-friendly environment in the region. He also called for closer collaboration among ICCI, Islamabad Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IWCCI), and Islamabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industries (ICSTSI) to achieve common objectives.
Mohammad Owais Satti, President ICSTSI, also felicitated the ICCI leadership, while Senior Vice President Tahir Ayub reiterated the commitment of the team to serve the business community without discrimination and to ensure unity in the ranks.
