HEC Cohort-IV held at Civil Services Academy

ISLAMABAD, SEP 24 (DNA) — The Higher Education Commission (HEC), through its National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE), inaugurated the fourth training cohort for its senior officers at the Civil Services Academy (CSA), Walton Campus, Lahore. The opening session was graced by the worthy Executive Director HEC, Prof. Dr. Zia Ul-Qayyum, as the Chief Guest.

On his arrival, he was warmly welcomed by Mr. Farhan Aziz Khawaja, Director General CSA. During the ceremony, Mr. Shabbir Ahmed Zaidi presented an overview of the HEC training initiative, highlighting the progress of the previous three cohorts, the objectives of CSA, and the broader purpose of this collaboration.

This initiative was originally introduced under the vision of Prof. Dr. Zia Ul-Qayyum, who emphasised that HEC employees should be provided the best opportunity to benefit from the CSA which is the apex training institution for the civil servants of Pakistan. Expressing satisfaction at the successful completion of three cohorts and the commencement of the fourth, Dr. Zia Ul-Qayyum noted that this achievement reflects a strong commitment to the professional development of HEC officers.

The training programs, designed for Assistant Directors, Deputy Directors, and now Directors General/Directors, aim to enhance governance, strengthen administrative efficiency, and promote integrity within the higher education sector. In addition to technical knowledge, these sessions offer participants valuable opportunities to engage in cross-institutional learning, reflective discussions, personal and professional development and sharing best practices of leadership and management.

With 15 senior officers participating in Cohort-IV, this program marks a significant milestone in efforts of HEC to institutionalize professional capacity building.The Executive Director appreciated both NAHE and CSA for their joint efforts and expressed hope that this collaboration will soon be formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding to ensure sustainable, long-term training opportunities for HEC employees.
