RAWALPINDI, SEPT 27 /DNA/ – THE GHQ Gate attack case has entered its concluding phase in the Rawalpindi Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC), with the last three witnesses summoned for the next hearing.
The court has dismissed a plea filed by PTI founder Imran Khan seeking to stop the trial.
The ATC announced that the final three witnesses of the May 9 GHQ Gate attack case will testify in the upcoming hearing. So far, 44 prosecution witnesses have recorded their statements, with three more added in the latest session.
Imran Khan’s legal team had requested the court to pause the trial, arguing that video-link proceedings should not continue until the Lahore High Court’s Rawalpindi bench rules on related petitions.

The petition filed on behalf of the PTI founder emphasised that continuing proceedings through video link would be inappropriate before the High Court delivers its decision. His lawyers also requested more time to review the legal aspects of the case.
However, the ATC dismissed the plea, ruling that the trial would proceed as scheduled.
Govt counsel’s response
Responding to the defense’s request, the government lawyer reminded the court that Khan’s legal team had already filed two petitions earlier against video-link appearances. The state argued that repeated filings were aimed at delaying proceedings rather than seeking legal clarity.
The court acknowledged the submissions and directed both sides to present detailed arguments at the next hearing.
Alongside the dismissed plea, Khan’s legal team filed another application to re-call eight witnesses. The court issued a notice to the prosecution on this request, which will be addressed in the upcoming proceedings.
