11 security personnel including two officers killed in clash with militants at Cetral Kurram

PESHAWAR—At least 11 personnel including two officers were killed and three other injured in militants attack against a convoy at Ali Sherzai area of Central Kurram late on Tuesday night. Officials claimed killing of 13 militants in retaliatory action. Tribesmen and local officials also informed that five personnel are missing.

So far no any official statement issued but local tribesmen and civilians at Parachanar Headquarter of Kurram, tribal district bordering with Afghanistan confirmed the clash at Jamal Mela in Alisherzai area of Central Kurram late on Tuesday night. Banned Tehrik Taliban Pakistan (TTP) through a communiqué also claimed responsibility for the attack.

Officials in Parachanar, headquarter of Kurram informed that a group of militants attacked a convoy of security forces on Thal-Aurakzai Road in Jamal Mela of Central Kurram. As a result 11 personnel including two officers were killed, three injured and four went missing. The killed officers were identified as Lt. Col. Raja Junaid Tariq and Major Tayyab.

Soon after attack, security forces embarked on retaliation and according to officials, 13 militants were killed. The killed militants besides others were included notorious commander Khobais and his accomplice from Afghanistan.

Officials further informed that security forces initiated search operations in the area. So far no any further details of five missing personnel. The injured shifted to Thall Military hospitals.

On the other hand banned TTP claimed responsibility for the attack.
