LAHORE, OCT 21: The process of the Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) brand valuation is expected to conclude this week. Sources divulged on Tuesday the Pakistan Cricket Board has engaged a private firm to assess the PSL’s brand worth. Profitability, market share and return on investment have been considered during the valuation process.
Market competitiveness and the brand’s distinct identity are also being reviewed, sources said. Once the valuation concludes, work will begin on the inclusion of two additional teams in the league.
Open bids will be held for the entry of new teams in the PSL, sources confirmed. Those submitting the highest bids will have the right to choose two names from a pre-approved list.
Winning bidders may propose any city from the four provinces as their base. Names including Sialkot, Faisalabad, Gwadar and Hyderabad are likely to be considered for the new franchises.
Two to three major business groups have expressed interest in acquiring the new PSL teams. The 11 edition of the domestic premium tournament is expected to take place in April–May next year.
