RAWALPINDI, NOV 4 /DNA/ – The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) has welcomed the government’s Roshan Maishiat Package and its decision to allocate additional power supply to the industrial and agricultural sectors. The Chamber termed the initiative a landmark step toward revitalizing Pakistan’s productive economy and fostering sustainable national growth.
In a statement, RCCI President Usman Shaukat commended the government’s move to reduce electricity tariffs for the agricultural and industrial sectors, describing it as a strong demonstration of commitment to supporting the key pillars of the national economy.
He appreciated the Prime Minister’s decision to provide additional electricity to industrial and agricultural consumers at a concessional tariff of Rs. 22.98 per unit for three years.
Mr. Shaukat noted that high electricity costs have long posed a major challenge for businesses, directly affecting production, employment, and overall economic activity. “This substantial reduction will significantly lower the cost of doing business, enabling industries and farmers to enhance productivity, competitiveness, and growth,” he said.
He further emphasized that agriculture and industry are the twin pillars of Pakistan’s economy—providing employment opportunities, ensuring food security, and contributing substantially to exports. The RCCI President expressed confidence that the Roshan Maishiat Package will play a pivotal role in strengthening these sectors and driving sustainable economic revival.=DNA
