ISLAMABAD, NOV 4 (DNA): COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) participated in the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme (PMYLS) award ceremony organized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) under the vision of the Government of Pakistan to empower youth through digital inclusion and academic excellence.
The event was graced by the Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Shahbaz Sharif. Prof. Dr. Raheel Qamar, Rector of COMSATS University Islamabad was also present in the ceremony. Saqib UL Islam, a student of bachelor’s in international relations from COMSATS University Islamabad hailing from Waziristan received the laptop from the Prime Minister during the ceremony. This year CUI students received over 2400 laptops in the 2025 PM Youth Laptop Scheme cycle.
Prof. Dr. Raheel Qamar lauded the efforts of the Higher Education Commission in advancing technological capacity and promoting educational opportunities for the youth of Pakistan. He said that this initiative of the Government of Pakistan was critical for advancing skills essential for Industry 5.0 among the masses. The Rector also appreciated the hard work and achievements of the talented students who were recognized under the PMYLS, describing them as the nation’s future leaders and innovators. Such initiatives not only bridge the digital divide but also serve as a catalyst for cultivating a knowledge-based economy.

Prof. Qamar reaffirmed COMSATS University Islamabad’s steadfast commitment to supporting national programs that advance education, and youth empowerment resulting in fostering of startup culture in the country. In a separate ceremony, Prof. Qamar met with the student and team of CUI and appreciated their efforts in processing over 12,000 applications for the program. COMSATS University Islamabad has been placed among the top ten universities across Pakistan receiving a higher allocation of laptops under the PMYLS, reflecting the university’s strong academic standing and the outstanding performance of its students nationwide.
