ICCI, IEAA collaborate to mega Tape Ball Cricket Tournament

ISLAMABAD, NOV 4 /DNA/ – In a spirited call to action, President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Sardar Tahir Mehmood, has vowed to help reignite Pakistan’s passion for sports, aiming to restore the country’s tradition of excellence and nurture a dynamic sporting culture nationwide.

Speaking at the Tape Ball Cricket Tournament Draw Ceremony at the Chamber House on Tuesday jointly organized by ICCI and the Islamabad Estate Agents Association (IEAA) Sardar Tahir underscored the essential role of sports in fostering both personal and national well-being.

The eagerly anticipated tournament is set to take place from November 6 to 9 at the F-9 Park Cricket Ground in Islamabad in which twenty four prominent tape ball cricket teams are taking part.

Reaffirming ICCI’s commitment to social responsibility, the President noted that the Chamber’s focus extends well beyond business advocacy. “Our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs are designed to support not just economic growth, but the holistic development of society, including the promotion of sports,” he said.

Sardar Tahir highlighted ICCI’s efforts in creating a supportive and inclusive environment for sports, particularly for young people, by endorsing local tournaments, networking with sports associations, and encouraging private-sector investment in long-term sports development.

“By encouraging youth participation in sports at all levels, we aim to instill discipline, teamwork, and resilience that are vital not only in business but in the overall progress of the nation,” he stressed.

In an exciting announcement, the ICCI President revealed that the winning team of the tournament will receive a cash prize of Rs.2.5 million along with the winner’s trophy.

ICCI Senior Vice President Tahir Ayub, Council Member Chaudhry Masood, former IEAA President Chaudhry Abdul Rauf, and General Secretary Chaudhry Zahid Rafique also addressed the ceremony.

The event concluded with the unveiling of the official tournament draws, symbolizing a renewed collaboration between the business and sports communities to uplift sports culture in Islamabad and beyond.

Also in attendance were ICCI Vice President Irfan Chaudhry, former ICCI President Mohammad Ejaz Abbasi, Executive Members Ishaq Sial and Zulqarnain Abbasi, former Senior Vice President Naveed Malik, Chairman ICCI Real Estate Committee Israr Mashwani and former executive member Rana Qaisar.
