LAHORE, Nov 6 (DNA):A four-member delegation of journalists from the Islamic Republic of Iran visited the mausoleum of Pakistan’s national poet and philosopher, Allama Muhammad Iqbal, on Thursday to pay homage to the visionary thinker and philosopher of the Muslim Ummah.
The delegation offered floral tributes, recited Fateha, and reflected on Allama Iqbal’s philosophy, describing it as a guiding light for the progress and unity of the Muslim world.
During the visit, a ceremonial guard of Punjab Rangers welcomed the Iranian journalists with a traditional salute, and the delegation was warmly received by local officials. The members of the delegation also recorded their impressions in the visitors’ book, expressing deep admiration for Allama Iqbal’s contributions to literature, philosophy, and the ideology of Pakistan.
After paying tribute at the mausoleum, the delegation toured the historic Badshahi Mosque, one of Lahore’s iconic Mughal-era landmarks. They offered Nawafil prayers and inspected various sections of the mosque. The guests appreciated the grandeur, intricate architecture, and historical significance of the mosque. A commemorative group photograph was also taken to mark the visit.
The Iranian delegation included Dr. Ahmad Norouzi, Deputy Managing Director of the IRIB, Head of IRIB’s World Service Affairs, Dr. Abbas Mohammad Nejad, Director General of International Affairs of the IRIB, Morteza Shamsi, Director of Sahar Global Network and Dr. Ali Mohammadi Nafchi, the IRIB General Manager of the Sistan and Baluchistan Centre. The delegation was accompanied by Pakistani officials, including Majid Hashmi, Head of IRIB Pakistan, Shah Qasmi, Officer at the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Syed Ali Rizvi, Special Representative of Iran TV.
The visit underlined the cultural and historical ties between Pakistan and Iran, highlighting the shared respect for Pakistan’s literary and spiritual heritage. The delegation’s trip also provided an opportunity to strengthen bilateral understanding and cooperation between media professionals of the two countries.
