SCCI hosts meeting on environmental protection

SUKKUR, Nov 14 (APP/DNA): The Sukkur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) on Friday hosted a meeting on environmental protection, chaired by President Muhammad Khalid Kakizai.

The meeting was attended by representatives from the Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA), including Dr. Gul Amir Sunbul, Assistant Director and District Incharge Sukkur, Ayaz Ahmed, Assistant Director Technical, and Ijaz Ahmed, Inspector SEPA.

The meeting discussed SEPA’s directives, the process of obtaining environmental permits, and inspection and sampling of industrial units.

The SCCI’s Standing Committee on Environment Convener, Irfan Samad, presented suggestions, emphasizing the importance of implementing environmental laws and ensuring timely submission of sampling reports.

The meeting also highlighted the need for coordination between SCCI, SEPA, and other relevant agencies to promote environmental protection.

 It was agreed to appoint focal persons and create a coordination WhatsApp group to facilitate communication.

The attendees stressed the importance of industrial units adhering to environmental principles and maintaining contact with SEPA to promote eco-friendly measures.

The meeting concluded with a commitment from SCCI and SEPA to work together towards environmental improvement, sustainable industrial development, and public welfare.
