LAHORE, NOV 30 /DNA/ – The Ferozepur Road Industrial Association (FRIA) has called for a more facilitative approach toward the industrial sector, emphasizing that sustainable growth and a broader tax base are possible only when businesses are supported rather than squeezed. Speaking to industry stakeholders, Aslam highlighted the urgent need for policies that enable factories to operate efficiently, expand production, and create jobs, while simultaneously contributing to government revenues.
According to FRIA Chairman Shahbaz Aslam, the industrial sector plays a pivotal role in Pakistan’s economy, and punitive measures or excessive taxation risk slowing industrial growth, undermining employment, and reducing long-term tax collection. “The government should focus on creating an environment where industries can thrive, adopt modern technologies, and increase productivity. A growing industrial base automatically enhances the tax net, benefiting both the state and the business community,” he said.
The FRIA chairman pointed out that facilitation measures such as simplified regulatory frameworks, timely approvals, and support for infrastructure development are crucial for industrial clusters along Ferozepur Road. He stressed that industrial associations can act as partners in development, helping the government identify bottlenecks, streamline processes, and improve compliance without resorting to pressure tactics that burden manufacturers.
Shahbaz Aslam also noted that a proactive partnership between the industrial sector and the government is essential for improving tax collection. Instead of relying solely on enforcement and punitive measures, authorities should adopt transparent policies, offer incentives for compliance, and provide guidance for businesses to meet their tax obligations efficiently. “A cooperative approach increases voluntary compliance and strengthens the overall tax base, while fostering an environment of trust and growth,” he added.
The FRIA chairman urged policymakers to consider both short-term revenue needs and long-term industrial development. He emphasized that industrial expansion, modernization, and job creation are directly linked to a nation’s economic resilience and global competitiveness. By supporting industries, the government not only secures higher revenues in the future but also strengthens the overall economy.
Shahbaz Aslam concluded by reaffirming FRIA’s commitment to working closely with authorities, advocating for policies that balance industrial growth with fiscal responsibility, and helping industries along Ferozepur Road contribute meaningfully to Pakistan’s economic development.
