LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly’s Disaster Management Standing Committee held an important meeting attended by Secretary General of the Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Amir Habib, Senior officials from the Legislative Wing, and Committee members. The meeting focused on preventive strategies, disaster preparedness, and institutional improvements to tackle natural calamities across the province.
During the session, the committee unanimously elected Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Ms. Qudsia Batool (W-330 Reserved Seat for Women) as the Chairperson of the Disaster Management Standing Committee. Committee members termed her nomination a positive development and expressed hope that under her leadership, the committee will play a vital role in strengthening disaster management mechanisms in Punjab.
After being elected Chairperson, Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Qudsia Batool expressed gratitude and stated that I am deeply thankful to my leadership Quaid Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Senator and Prime Minister’s Adviser Rana Sanaullah, Speaker Punjab Assembly Malik Ahmad Khan, and Assembly Secretary Amir Habib for reposing their trust in me. With the will of Allah, I will continue to perform my duties with utmost honesty, dedication, and sincerity.”
Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA), further added that Pakistan, particularly Punjab, faces various climatic and natural challenges that demand robust policy planning and an efficient emergency response mechanism. She reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to working closely with all relevant departments to enhance public safety and strengthen disaster response systems in the province.
