Pakistan Reaffirms Commitment to Peaceful Palestinian Statehood Efforts

Pakistan Backs UN Resolution, Urges Full Implementation of Peace Plan and Ceasefire to Advance Palestinian Rights, Reconstruction, Humanitarian Relief, and a Credible Path toward an Independent State Based on 1967 Borders

ISLAMABAD, DEC 3 /DNA/: Pakistan reaffirmed its longstanding support for the Palestinian cause during a pivotal session of the United Nations General Assembly on 2 December 2025, where member states debated the peaceful settlement of the Question of Palestine. Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, delivered a comprehensive statement underscoring Islamabad’s commitment to Palestinian self-determination and the implementation of the two-state solution.

Addressing the Assembly, Ambassador Ahmad highlighted the immense suffering endured by Palestinians, particularly in Gaza, where more than 70,000 people—mostly women and children—have been killed over the past two years. He noted that despite repeated international appeals, ceasefire violations and humanitarian devastation have continued, along with escalating settler violence in the West Bank.

The ambassador welcomed the structured multilateral process initiated through the High-level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the subsequent New York Declaration. He praised the efforts of the United States, Qatar, Egypt, and Türkiye in shaping President Trump’s Peace Plan and the Sharm El-Sheikh Summit, which collectively aimed to maintain the ceasefire, address humanitarian needs, and open a viable political pathway toward Palestinian statehood.

Pakistan supported Security Council Resolution 2803, which endorsed the peace plan, and announced its vote in favor of the General Assembly resolution reaffirming the peaceful settlement framework. Ambassador Ahmad emphasized several priorities moving forward, including full implementation of Resolution 2803, complete adherence to the ceasefire, unhindered humanitarian access, immediate reconstruction, cessation of settlement activity, prevention of forced displacement, and accountability for violations.

Reiterating Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity, he concluded that the international community must now convert commitments into tangible actions to realize a sovereign, independent, and contiguous Palestinian state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
