Retail sugar price drops by Rs6.28: PBS

ISLAMABAD, DEC 5: The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) issued on Friday a report on retail sugar prices in various cities, stating that sugar became cheaper by Rs6.28 per kilogram during the past week.

According to the report, retail sugar prices in different cities were recorded between Rs170 and Rs212 per kilogram, while the average price stood at Rs183.70. The previous week’s average rate was Rs190 per kilogram.

The figures showed that sugar was costliest in Quetta at Rs212 per kilogram. In Karachi and Khuzdar it stood at Rs210, in Larkana at Rs200, and in Rawalpindi and Islamabad between Rs180 and Rs185 per kilogram.

The report noted that sugar sold for Rs190 per kilogram in Peshawar and Rs179 in Lahore. In Hyderabad it was Rs195, in Sukkur Rs176, in Bannu Rs175, and in Faisalabad Rs180 per kilogram.

Sargodha recorded the lowest retail price in the country at Rs170 per kilogram, while in Gujranwala it stood at Rs175 and in Sialkot at Rs172.
