Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto to Arrive in Pakistan on Monday

ISLAMABAD, Dec 7 — President of the Republic of Indonesia, H.E. Prabowo Subianto, will arrive in Islamabad on 8 December 2025 for a two-day official visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. The Indonesian leader will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including key ministers and senior officials, marking his first visit to Pakistan since assuming office.

The visit carries special significance as it coincides with the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Indonesia—an important milestone underscoring decades of friendship, shared values and longstanding cooperation between the two Muslim-majority nations.

This will also be the first presidential visit from Indonesia to Pakistan since President Joko Widodo’s trip in 2018.

During his stay in Islamabad, President Prabowo will hold delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, where the two sides are expected to discuss a comprehensive agenda aimed at further strengthening bilateral cooperation. The discussions will span a wide range of sectors, including trade, investment, defence, health, information technology, climate action, education and cultural exchange. Both countries will also review avenues to enhance coordination at regional and global forums.

President Prabowo will also meet President Asif Ali Zardari. In addition, Chief of Army Staff & Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, will call on the Indonesian President, highlighting the importance both countries attach to defence and security collaboration.

Several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed during the visit, paving the way for deeper institutional partnerships and new channels of cooperation.

Officials in Islamabad view the visit as a major diplomatic event that will help expand the scope of Pakistan–Indonesia relations. Both sides are hopeful that the engagements will contribute to the diversification of their partnership, promoting shared economic and strategic interests.

The visit of President Prabowo Subianto is widely seen as an opportunity to rejuvenate bilateral ties and build on the historic momentum as both countries celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations.
