70,219 wallet account under BISP opened

SARGODHGA, DEC 21 (APP/DNA): As many as 70,219 wallet accounts under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) have been opened so far in Sargodha district, covering all its tehsils, including Bhalwal, Bhera, Sillanwali, Sahiwal, Sargodha, Shahpur, and Kot Momin.

Deputy Director BISP Sargodha, Malik Safdar Awan, stated this during an exclusive interview with the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) on Sunday. He said the wallet account opening process for registered beneficiaries is underway across the district.

He shared that out of the total 70,219 accounts opened, 6,335 belong to Bhalwal, 2,800 to Bhera, 6,874 to Sillanwali, 4,091 to Sahiwal, 31,690 to Sargodha, 9,563 to Shahpur, and 8,866 to Kot Momin.

The deputy director further informed that the total caseload of BISP beneficiaries in the district stands at 213,727, out of which 70,219 beneficiaries have already been facilitated through wallet accounts.

He added that approximately 43 percent of the account opening process has been completed, while the remaining beneficiaries will be facilitated in the coming days.

Malik Safdar Awan also said that the program, implemented in partnership with telecom companies Ufone, Telenor, and Zong, enables women beneficiaries to withdraw funds from any authorized telecom agent, pay utility bills, and transfer money. He noted that the initiative aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision of promoting a cashless economy.
